The main focus of the Palliative Care team is to support individuals and their carers to live as independently and as well as they can in the face of a serious illness. We provide services for inpatients and outpatients, including nursing home and domiciliary care. We have palliative care teams onsite at Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals - these form part of a wider group practising in the community and in our inpatient unit at Canterbury Hospital. Our team is multidisciplinary in composition, comprising nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, doctors and volunteers.

Our service here comprises a dedicated ward providing care to patients requiring symptom control, respite, rehabilitation and end of life care. To make a referral, contact the palliative care registrar through the Canterbury switchboard on 02 9787 0000.

Palliative Care Volunteers
